The cycle for the Season 43 ToC commenced on November 17, 2025, four weeks before the start of Season 42's postseason. It's expected that this ToC will be played in early 2027, with its postseason starting toward the end of 2026.
On January 19, 2026, the show announced that Stella Trout, first runner-up in Season 42 Champions Wildcard, was granted qualification into this Tournament of Champions. This is due to a bad ruling against her on a Daily Double in the second game of the final of that event.
